"I heard so much hype for this movie…I’m not sure why?? It was overall quite nonsensical and slow if it had a point I didn’t get it. I love the idea of a online horror game/challenge slowly consuming and changing you but they did nothing with that concept, they didn’t even going into detail about the said game and its lore so there was nothing to grasp on to. Id even like if it was just a mentally ill girl who thinks the game is changing her and becomes obsessed with it which..maybe that’s what they where going for but even then they didn’t explain that well either. I get the whole lonely teen girl with just the internet for company thing…but no plot point was explained good enough for me to be invested. The music was good though! Also maybe some of the lighting choices where interesting and cool…but that’s all I can that’s a positive. Skip this one horror fans. "
"this was good, but it could have been much better. I really liked the overall style, lighting choices, and scenery for this and I loved the themes and messages in the story. the pacing was very slow although I understand that's how it's supposed to be to add suspense and gradually blur reality and fiction. with the pacing some scenes felt like they dragged, and some scenes didn't feel necessary at all. I wish they would have went more in depth with the background and lore behind the game itself, as it is very important to the plot. I simultaneously liked and disliked how open to interpretation most of the story is and how the story is so vague on what actually happened in the end, but either way it still felt unfinished to me. "
"Spooktober: First movie I've watched so far this year that I feel like posting about. If I had watched this as a teenager I would honestly be obsessed with it. As it stands it does a lot to remind me of my mental state around that time. Be warned it touches on some topics that are pretty uncomfortable and it does so fairly subtly. It has moments that sent a chill down my spine including the ending. Very heavy and surreal atmospherically."
