Ramy Youssef: More Feelings

"Mixed feelings on this one. Some of the jokes were funny; the Olive Garden bit killed me. But a lot of the jokes just didn’t land for me (though admittedly, I may not be the target audience). There were a lot of weird technical issues too. There are so many times where his face isn’t even in the shot. The opener was really weird too: nobody even introduces the dude speaking, the show just opens on some guy in the middle of a discussion about how much he wants to kill himself. Who is he? Do we ever even learn what his name is? It’s also weird because I guess I just expected Ramy to have more stage presence. I’ve never seen his standup before, but I watched his show, so I know he’s really funny. But on stage his timing is kind of off, and sometimes he seems to be actively trying to remember what the next joke in the show is. Still, this show had some good jokes, and I think it’s admirable he’s speaking so loudly in support of Palestine. "
