"Resident Evil: Extinction is the third installment in the Resident Evil film series, directed by Russell Mulcahy. The movie picks up several years after the events of Resident Evil: Apocalypse. Alice (Milla Jovovich) is hiding out in the Nevada desert, where she joins forces with former cohorts Carlos (Oded Fehr) and L.J. (Mike Epps), as well as new survivors Claire (Ali Larter), K-Mart (Spencer Locke), and Nurse Betty (Ashanti). Together, they aim to eradicate the virus that threatens to turn every human on Earth into a zombie.
Resident Evil: Extinction blends the zombie and post-apocalyptic genres in a reasonably interesting way. The film benefits from Mulcahy's well-rehearsed filmmaking style, which brings a raw, gritty apocalyptic aesthetic to the screen. The movie's desert landscape and humans-turning-on-humans motif borrow heavily from the popular Mad Max films.
The film's pacing can feel inconsistent, with moments of intense action followed by slower, more contemplative scenes that don't always mesh seamlessly. Fans of the Resident Evil video game franchise may be disappointed by the movie's alternate mythology, which deviates further from the source material.
Resident Evil: Extinction is an enjoyable B-movie schlock that offers fun action scenes and a gritty post-apocalyptic setting. While it may not be the most innovative entry in the zombie genre, it provides enough entertainment for fans of the series and action movie enthusiasts alike. "
