"I’m probably rather biased as the manga is one of my absolute favourites, but I did love this adaptation. While some narrative cuts were necessary, the movie feels fresh and conveys the characters’ drive and fascination for the mountains. I wish this had been a short series - which would have allowed for more in-depth characterisation - and the French voice-acting, while serviceable, does not match some of the better animes out there. Overall, a wonderful intro to the manga. Do give it a try!"
