From ‘The Marvels’ to ‘The Curse’: What to Watch This Weekend
November 10, 2023
TGIF,friend! The week may be over, but the weekend is just beginning. And we're kicking things off with two anticipated new movies and some unexpected TV shows. But first, with People magazine naming actor Patrick Dempsey this year’s Sexiest Man Alive, we’re wondering if that means it’s time for a Grey’s Anatomy binge. With so many options, there's no time to waste — so get to viewing!
The Marvels
Brie Larson's Carol Danvers is back as she leads the ultimate Marvel team-up. Both Iman Vellani’s Ms. Marvel and Teyonah Parris’ Monica Rambeau join her to put a stop to all the body swapping that happens whenever they use their powers.
David Fincher, the master of the crime thriller, returns to the genre that made him a formidable filmmaker with a new movie about a hired assassin (played by Michael Fassbender) seeking revenge on those who wronged him.
Emma Stone makes an unexpected return to TV with Nathan Fielder as the two play a pair of home reno hosts from hell who try to flip a house that may or may not be haunted, leading to a twisted take on those HGTV gentrifiers.
Returning for Season 4, creator Ronald D. Moore's alt-history series starring Joel Kinnaman, Wrenn Schmidt, Cynthy Wu, and Toby Kebbell jumps to 2003 as new international tensions arise over the mining of asteroids.
Brian Cox narrates and hosts a new reality competition based on the James Bond movies as nine pairs of everyday people go on a global adventure to complete spy-themed challenges in order to win a £1,000,000 cash prize.
Debuting in theaters on Jan. 12, Mean Girls, Tina Fey's beloved teen comedy, gets a musical twist—with a new generation of stars taking over iconic roles of Cady Heron and the group of Plastics that ruled their high school. Angourie Rice stars as Cady while Reneé Rapp takes over as Regina George, Bebe Wood plays Gretchen and Avantika steps in as Karen. Rounding out the cast is Christopher Briney as Aaron Samuels, Auli’i Cravalho as Janis and Jaquel Spivey as Damian.
The movie is based on a popular crime novel that was first adapted for the screen in 1974.
Like the first Oscar-winning movie, the new movie also features a star-studded cast, including Judi Dench and Penélope Cruz.
The 2017 release marked the first of three consecutive Agatha Christie adaptations directed by and starring Kenneth Branagh.
