The People Around Me

"The People Around Me" podcast aims to tell the story of everyday people, who are not often asked their opinions on issues that directly affect them. Not only will you hear stories about serious issues, but you will also hear about the everyday things that make people human. Gossip, drama, and humor are all things that happen simultaneously while life takes its turn. The goal is to highlight those things while talking about issues considered political. "The People Around Me” basically came from my appreciation of the people who have came into my life whether it has been for 5 minutes to decades. Many times when I speak about my life and some of the most eye opening things I have experienced, I am not telling a story I 100% experienced first hand. I am constantly starting stories with “well I have a friend who done this” or “One time I saw my friends doing this”. I am lucky enough to have dodged some of the wild experiences that many of my peers, mentors, and friends have been through. When I tell stories about my life, it is the people around me who are the main characters. They are the people who have given me my wisdom and a new outlook on life. I have learned from their success and failures. They are the people that showed me what to avoid or what to intentionally engage in. I want to talk about my people not in an exploitative way but in a celebratory way.
