Move over Rowling, there's another great writer in town! Reminiscent of "The Skin Map" by Stephen R. Lawhead with a definite "Holes" vibe - you've never read anything like this in YA/Children's Literature before! Jump through time and deal with villains and the ever widening Butterfly effect while trying to save the life of someone precious.

Satisfyingly different trope shatterer!

Love this first book and the whole series! Historical setting, the high seas, fantasy, magic, romance - what is there not to love? A more satisfying read than Shadow and Bone.

This is on my shortlist of 5 favorite book series. It's beautifully written. The worldbuilding is fantastic! I love the mash-up of high fantasy, Dystopia, science fiction and goth. The heroine's character arc is wonderful, and the writer walks the fine line of the story feeling like a fairy tale yet also a deeply culturally relevant piece of science fiction. I have a love/hate relationship with the final ending of the series, but at the same time that is what makes it so memorable.
