A beautiful story with a refreshingly new take on fantasy world building and coming of age. The way the author built different cultures and religions made it a beautiful story, and having women in the story have roles traditionally set aside for men (even in fantasy) created interesting dynamics in the story. Love, love, love this book!
The Priory of the Orange Tree
Books | Samantha Shannon
Provides a different perspective in fantasy. Traditional roles of “villains” typically assigned to the protagonists’ races (i.e. undead, lord of hell, etc.) are flipped around and a world is built where they’re painted in a different light. Builds a great story without being overly sexual, which I like, as **** fantasy is not my cup of tea.
