A true classic! If you are looking into early 20th century English fiction, this is a great place to start. Forester’s observations on society and relationships are poignant and clever. There are sentences that I have pondered deeply and others that cracked me up (in the way he intended) 😂

I find Agatha Christie’s writing so comforting, and this mystery, while not entirely unpredictable, is just a really fun adventure to dive into for a comfy weekend. The atmosphere and witticisms always the main draw for me.

This book offered a cohesive narrative around a difficult subject, and gave me new perspective on the experience of Holocaust victims and survivors.
