"This historical series of Catherine de Medici is amazingly addictive. Catherine has always been a fascinating historical figure, one that was on par with any other rules, male or female, in her calculated cruelty, controlling people and nations with the precision of a master chess♟️ player. This series is bringing to life her story in a mesmerizing and educational way. The second season, at least the last four episodes of it, were incredibly good. The serpent queen truly poisoned everyone in her path, in the most unbelievable ways. I am still reeling from the buildup of each of the last few episodes, trying to figure out how the writers could possibly top themselves with the perfect casting of Minnie Driver as Queen 👑 Elizabeth of England, and Samantha Morton as Catherine de Medici, who both seem to relish the freedom of the characters they play. This is a solid, strongly acted, tightly directed intelligently written series. "
"#TheSerpentQueen hooked me with its first season — #CatherineDeMedici’s story, told through her conversations with a young servant girl and her intriguing #FourthWall breaks revealing her true #duplicitous thoughts and nature, really drew me in.
The excitement of her journey from Italy to France at such a young age, her anticipation of how she would be received by the #FrenchCourt, and the unfolding #mystery behind her “serpent queen” nickname were compelling reasons to keep watching.
While S2 was good, it didn’t quite capture the charm and initial spark of S1. Nevertheless, the show remains an engaging watch.
▪️Side note: Diane de Poitiers was the one character I TRULY “loved to hate!” 🤭 And I mean that in the best way possible.

"Interesting way the story is told in that the main character, the Queen, is telling her life history to a servant girl and we get to watch it unfold. I really liked that as the first season was coming to an end the Queen then used the servant girl in some of her plotting to attempt to maintain her position. I didn’t watch past the first season because Prime only gave the first season with a Prime membership. It was a good show but I’m not paying to watch any more of it. "
