"In a world were most supernatural children are put into orphanages and disconnected from society. Case worker Mr. Baker is assigned to what will be his toughest orphanage investigation yet...or so he thought, until it changes his outlook on life completely. This book easily became a favorite. the easiest explanation to this book would be a not-so-dark version of "Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children" however still giving its own very unique story and personalities in all the characters!"
"This book was so good! I really didn't know what to expect going into it, but it did not disappoint in the least! Definitely going to be one of my new comfort reads, and I wish I had read it sooner! I loved Linus and Arthur so much! Lucy was probably my favorite of the kids, though I loved them all! Such an amazing book! Love the found family trope! Definitely worth the read! 10/10 would recommend! "
"⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ So this book was super cute and charming! A fun light read that made me giggle. It also had some hard lessons tied in in weird ways about racism, prejudice, and twisted foster systems that were definitely not made up for the purpose of the story.
The children the main character is sent to observe and check up on are not normal in appearance but certainly do everything a normal child would. Their unique personalities and comments were my favorite part of the book.
If fantasy isn’t your normal genre, I don’t think that should deter you from reading this great book."
"This was a wholesome and heartwarming story. Sadly, I felt like most of the dialogue from the children was not accurate to how kids talk relative to their age which kept throwing me off. The characters seemed very one dimensional even after 400 long pages. I also was sad to see the queer relationship only officially happen in the last few pages. I recommend it for those looking for a cutesy fantasy story, but I don't know how well it achieves the anti-prejudice moral it's going for. "
