David Sedaris
A new collection from David Sedaris is cause for jubilation. His recent move to Paris has inspired hilarious pieces, including Me Talk Pretty One Day, about his attempts to learn French. His family is another inspiration. You Cant Kill the Rooster is a portrait of his brother who talks incessant hip-hop slang to his bewildered father. And no one hones a finer fury in response to such modern annoyances as restaurant meals presented in ludicrous towers and cashiers with 6-inch fingernails. Compared by The New Yorker to Twain and Hawthorne, Sedaris has become one of our best-loved authors. Sedaris is an amazing reader whose appearances draw hundreds, and his performancesincluding a jaw-dropping impression of Billie Holiday singing I wish I were an Oscar Meyer weinerare unforgettable. Sedariss essays on living in Paris are some of the funniest hes ever written. At last, someone even meaner than the French! The sort of blithely sophisticated, loopy humour that might have resulted if Dorothy Parker and James Thurber had had a love child. "This is the book that introduced me to David Sadaris. I fell in love... hard!!!! Stood in line for hours to listen to him read live at a Barnes and Noble, and saw him live at the performing arts center. Amazing collection of stories by a guy who tells it like you think it! He always has me rolling!"
"I read a few of his stories and they are funny but since I have heard him read his own stories on NPR I find them even more humorous. To hear the stories from his voice is hysterical!"

"David Sedaris is a humorous, lovely person!!! He uses the trivial events that occur in his life and makes jokes out of them!!! He is as cbs Sunday morning said in 2011, “the funniest writer alive” because he is just that hilarious! I love the Paris stories. The one that made me laugh was the title story where David recounts his time taking a French course in a university and him describing the professor’s demeanor and attitude as always cranky. And so she took form even though we don’t even know who she is! But that is the beauty of his descriptive writing!!"
