I loved this story of a father and daughter living alone in the middle of the forest. Secrets define their journey, and the daughter is now at an age where she must know the truth. Circumstances force those secrets to light sooner than expected. Will their life change forever or is there a way to preserve their treasured existence?

A beautifully written debut mystery novel by one of my favorite Podcasters. She did not disappoint with this twisty plot line! Her love of true crime and autopsies shines through with a main character that leaves you wanting to hang out with her more! Quick read!

Awe-inspiring and not quick to be forgotten. This deep memoir of one woman's journey from confusion, trauma, heartbreak, and the unknown to discovering a life of talent, dreams, and self-revelation will leave you breathless. Beautifully written to transport you into the author's inner-most thoughts, she uses her poetry as the vehicle to carry you along the story of her existence. You will not be left unchanged.

Unsettling. That is the best word to describe this book. I may never go back to the hospital! This book was well researched, and the author did a great job telling the facts in a readable way telling the story from many sides. Monsters hide amoung us. This book proves it.

Wow. What a story! It's hard to believe this entire book spanned her life before she even hit 30. Sordid and real, the author invites us into her trauma openly and nakedly. I didn't know of her before this book, and now just want to give her a big hug and thank her for helping us to understand the dark sides of what hides below the surface- level smiles and seemingly perfect lives of some. Never assume.

What a roller coaster! I found myself holding my breath at certain parts of the story. Delightfully twisty and psychologically intense, Lucinda Berry does not disappoint in this one! This is my third Lucinda Berry this year and now I'm wondering which one I want to dive into next!

In the wake of the extremely recent state of this country, this ending was rough. Although this book was hard to power thru at the beginning, I was happy I read it in the end. New perspectives, fresh writing style, and a genre I don't find myself in often all played into why I ended up enjoying the read.

This story is heart wreching and holds even more traumatizing by the fact that these things actually happened. You wonder how anyone could survive the atrocities of this children's home. Beautifully written and captivating it will leave you scouring the internet researching this awful history.

What would you do if you found out you only had one day left to live? In the society of this book, you know when your last day is and through this story you get to tag along with two strangers, who found each other on the Last Friend app, living out their last day together. Heartwarming, eye opening, and thought provoking, this book really gets your mind whirling. And although you find yourself holding out hope to the bitter end that at least one of these two will survive, you still find yourself morbidly obsessed with how they will go. Life lessons are sprinkled throughout if you look close enogh and you will definitely take something away in the end. Sad this story is a banned book and after reading it I feel the ban is ridiculous and will rob people from this experience. Read it.
