This is the first book I've read where I've been able to relate to the character's experience with dysphoria. Also it shows (somewhat) how there are divisions in the queer community, which honestly needs to be acknowledged more."

"When it comes to transmasc transgender representation, I’m often forced to read about characters half my age. Most of the time this is the most irritating endeavor because they have so little in common with me (already transitioned in their teens, supportive parents, making dumb teenage decisions) or the writing is just.. bad. Boring. So I was actually surprised and grateful to find a book that is not only interesting, but well-written. The exploitation of children by adults. The messiness and body horror of puberty. For trans people, going through that can feel like the end of the world. And here that feeling is literal. Benji is not stupid. Benji tries his best to survive his horrible situation. He finds community and tries his best. And the representation is diverse. "

"This was my first step into the horror/thriller genre, and what a good way to start it off. The world building in this book is actually insane, and I absolutely love the way that it is written. The book is gory and heavy, but it balances it out perfectly with a loving community for our main character and some good ole queer representation. Definitely found family vibes. 9/10."
