"I was pleasantly surprised that this slow moving western's screenplay was written by Ed Harris. Viggo Mortensen, Ed Harris, Renee Zellweger and Jeremy Irons round out this great cast. The plot is basic and usual for a Western: two lawmen ride into town, hired by the locals to take down a big bad boss. Yes, the pace is slow, but in this film, there is more in-between-the-lines that helps build the story. What kind of people kill for a living? What makes a lawman? Whose rules are really law? The acting was great, sometimes the most simple plot is the best."

"As far as Westerns go, they are few and far between in modern day Hollywood. This one has been on my watchlist for a while now and I've finally had the chance to view it. Great cast, acted very well by all involved. Kind of a slow burn but I think it works well in this genre. But the final act kind of fizzled out, even though it had a resolution. 7.5/10"
