"I had a feeling I wasn’t gonna like this one lol, but it’s a classic so I wanted to watch it at least once. It’s weird because the movie acknowledges MULTIPLE TIMES how and why the age gap is wrong, but it still ends in happily ever after. I thought the movie did an amazing job showing how young black boys are expected to grow up fast, and I wish the movie had focused more on those characters instead of Whoopi Goldberg’s character, who didn’t add much to the movie imo. I would love to see this movie revisited with a sequel that takes place when Stella’s son is twenty-one and the boyfriend is fully grown. How would this relationship ultimately end, and what impact would it have on Stella’s son? "
