"Daniel Day Lewis. Enough said. Sally Field is a perfect in the role of Mrs. Lincoln too."

"Fantastic performance by Daniel Day Lewis. There are a good handful of Brits playing masterful performances of Americans - Christian Bale (Vice), Hugh Laurie (House) and Damian Lewis (Band of Brothers). Daniel Day Lewis well deserved his Oscar as did Spielberg with telling the story of the master of story telling. You are shown the destruction of the Civil War & immersed into the polarizing politics and magnitude of the task at hand in passing the 13th - which people take today as a given "
