"Shocktober Bonus: Okay, it's worth mentioning that on a technical level, episode 1 is amazing and the rest of the series shits the bed. However, I think the pacing issues start at 1. Obviously, some stuff would be paced weird since it's an entire book in 4 episodes but it's pretty noticeable off the bat and breakneck by episode 2. Nothing is allowed time to cook. That being said, this is probably the best adaptation of Uzumaki we're probably ever gonna get. It simultaneously proves Uzumaki can and cannot be adapted. It literally can, when this anime comes together it comes together well and matches the horror of the book. But it feasibly can't because no one is gonna try to sink the time and the money in to do it correctly realistically. This was the one shot and it didn't come to fruition. I suggest reading the Manga but if you absolutely refuse I think this is a somewhat janky but not terrible way to experience the story, it at least starts and ends strong. But it is still somewhat disappointing."

"If you aren't inclined to buy and read the manga, this is a great substitute. Junji Ito is a master of body horror, and I feel every fan of the genre (whether or not you care for manga and anime at all) should do themselves a favor and dive into a crash course on his work. "
