This book soooo lived up to my expectations! I enjoyed it immensely! Gus and Teddy, though it took a while, ended up being such a sweet couple! After their initial drama got sorted out, they were both so caring and so supportive of one another. There were so many soft, fluffy moments, as well as some intense spicy scenes! Gus’s family is absolutely incredible, and his daughter, Riley, is the sweetest little thing ever! I loved seeing how sweet Gus was with his daughter. It was heart melting. I honestly love pretty much all of the father/daughter relationships in this series! The setting of this book, Rebel Blue Ranch, is so beautiful and so cozy. This series is wonderfully comforting, and I'm so glad I decided to give it a shot! The only thing I didn't love about this series was that the ending felt just a tad bit rushed. Cowboy romance, small town/ranch setting, best friend's brother/sister's best friend, 8 year age gap, single dad x nanny, grumpy x sunshine, hate to love, forced proximity, slow burn, dual POV, and spicy! This is the third book of the Rebel Blue Ranch series, though I suppose it could be read as a standalone. That being said, the first two books are amazing! 10/10 would recommend!"

She has done it again…I quite literally ran to this book and read it any free time I had. Teddy and Gus’s story was definitely something else. The banter between both of them had me giggling and kicking my feet because let’s be honest…we knew they’d get together. However near the ending when Hank had the health scare and Gus was still trying to adapt to the new side of Teddy, I got misty eyed and starting cryin like a mf (im sorry but i swear that’s the only way to describe how i felt) It took Teddy and Gus LONG ENOUGH to finally admit they loved each other. The only thing I hated was how Emmy had acted like she wasn’t okay with the idea of them. She of all people should’ve known how to react and how it felt to be in that situation. That part seriously had me losing my liking towards Emmy’s character. MY GIRL ADA KNEW THOUGH, SINCE THE BEGINNING. I feel absolutely terrible with how it ended, I mean poor Cam. You didn’t get a lot of parts of Cam, but you respected and liked her character in the stories overall. I’d definitely read this series if you like western romance novels."

This was my most anticipated Rebel Blue Ranch couple. I expected angst and tension and intense enemies to lovers that would have a fierce passion. What I got was a bit lukewarm, to be honest. The plot and pacing felt more choppy than what I remembered in the previous books. For example, the chapter right after the 7 year flashback just… starts. There’s no transition out from the night of the not-kiss, the flashback, and the next morning - you have to deduce what’s going on. It also seemed like the editor didn’t comb through this book, since there were also several noticeable typos.
Immediately into the first few chapters, Gus and Teddy don’t bicker as much and start admiring each other more and more. I felt like the addition of their fleeting attraction 7 years ago wasn’t satisfying - it would have been so much better if their current romance was the first time anything happened, even if hardly anything happened before. None of the tension that I expected was there, except maybe the dinner scene with Dusty and Nicole. I wanted more pining and more tension and more “I’m analyzing why I hate you but also love you so much”. There wasn’t really a buildup to their new attraction.
This review seems harsh in relation to my rating - I promise I still really enjoyed this book and these characters will always be my favorite cowboys out of any of the others (literally finished this book in a few hours). I just had way higher expectations for Gus and Teddy. They’re very cute together and my mouth is still on fire from that spice, though!
I’m not sure how invested I am in Cam and Dusty. We don’t know much about Cam’s character other than the brief moments we saw her in Swift and Saddled, but I will still be there on release day to find love in their romance. "
"I found Lyla Sage’s writing marginally better in this book, but she still falls into her old habits. She way over explains. She practically beats you over the head when she tells you something. If she tells you once, the next paragraph hammers home the idea by stating it directly. There’s zero trust in the reader’s ability to understand. All of the outfit descriptions? I practically expected a polyvore link at the end of the chapter like it was a fanfic. In this one, she strangely makes the decision to break the fourth wall to directly address the reader several times, but only in Teddy’s POV. Very specifically, the moment where she had to tell us about how instead of a beer, Diet Coke was her beverage of choice to unwind. Why do we need to note that? It didn’t come up ever again. Then the Oreo scene, where she says it’s too sexual to lick up the frosting, and then makes the note that Dusty does. Never again mentioned. Not important to the plot, doesn’t add anything to any of the characterizations. Speaking of things that never got readdressed? When she brings up Gus’s dyslexia and how he reads Riley’s books ahead of time so that he doesn’t stumble over the words when he reads aloud to her, that was a perfect opportunity to allow Gus to be vulnerable in front of Teddy and to build that intimacy. Instead, it never comes up again. The intimacy in general between the leads feels a bit more earned, but not by much. The first time they kiss, it did nothing for me. I didn’t feel as if we really saw them build up anything. We were too bogged down by sentences like “Riley and I did this, and then we went here. Later, I braided her hair,” and such. Lots of actions, but little to no character work. Riley, also, is offensive to me. She does not behave like a child, she behaves as almost the deus ex machina device in the storyline, which I found lazy. I will, unfortunately, spite read the remaining books of this series just because I bought the first two and I must make the "

The enemies to lovers just wasn’t enemies to lovers-ing for me the way I wanted it to! These characters had the potential to exude so much tension and I felt like the tension fizzled out pretty quickly. Which is okay…if we hadn’t established a major hate complex early on. I think Lyla Sage’s ability to write friends to lovers and establish the little gestures that build to create a large relationship is so good, it just loses its steam when there’s the elephant in the room of mutual hatred.
Gus and Teddy were cute together, and I liked the relationship Teddy had with Riley. I’m just not personally a fan of a single dad trope (I’m 21 and don’t regularly want to interact with children) which I knew going in ! so that’s all on me, but it was done in a way that the kid was actually a person with emotions and not just a cardboard trope cutout.
In comparison to the other books (because it’s hard to have a review and not take into consideration Done & Dusted and Swift & Saddled) I think Emmy and brooks (dd) will always be my favorite, and honestly I think Wes and Ada (ss) hit harder for me than Gus and Teddy. Here’s to hoping Cam and Dusty’s story breaks the downhill rhythm!! "
"I was so freaking excited to get this book, I preordered it and everything! It finally came on Nov 4th (a day early) and I just barely finished reading it. There’s so much to say about this book, about the whole series. This book made me have all the feels, I can’t recommend it enough! The spice was about the same as the other books, and it felt very genuine and compassionate. The hair washing scene was one of my favorites. 🤭Teddys relationship with Riley was so adorable, I loved their little flower hunt! I am so excited for the next book as well, the preview for chapter 1 in this book was so good, I want more! In conclusion, this book is absolutely amazing and I love it so much! You should definitely read it as soon as possible! This series has become my go to comfort series and I hope that all of you feel the same way. ❤️"
