"I did not want to finish this. 50% of the way in and almost nothing had happened, we were still getting very basic and kinda clunky world building and only JUST met our love interest. A bland insta love that really dragged the plot down. Our lead went to boarding school where she must not have paid attention to anything because everyone has to word vomit history to her or teach her things she already knew? I get that the book is doing that for the audiences sake, but it comes off incredibly forced. Then the book keeps telling us how special she is but doesn't actually show her as anything but a pretty, naive, and boring teen. The book had a lot of potential, and the writing wasn't even bad, but nothing ever came together or made sense. I mean, how does a school raising girls to be surrogates somehow not teach the girls anything about pregnancy?! And I love a cliffhanger, but this novel feels incomplete. It feels more like a last-ditch effort to get people to read the next book. Which I will not waste my time reading."
"Cliche, typical, "stubborn" main character who falls in love at the drop of the hat. It's another toe-deep relationship that she's willing to risk her life for. The premise of the story was interesting and the writing was fast paced enough to keep me going. I wish there were some more likable characters — they all seem to lack real depth, so it's hard to feel attached.

Content: One fade into darkness scene, a few innuendos"
"I LOVED this series. "
