The Power of Habit is an exception.”—Financial Times A WALL STREET JOURNAL AND FINANCIAL TIMES BEST BOOK OF THE YEAR In The Power of Habit, award-winning business reporter Charles Duhigg takes us to the thrilling edge of scientific discoveries that explain why habits exist and how they can be changed. Distilling vast amounts of information into engrossing narratives that take us from the boardrooms of Procter & Gamble to the sidelines of the NFL to the front lines of the civil rights movement, Duhigg presents a whole new understanding of human nature and its potential. At its core, The Power of Habit contains an exhilarating argument: The key to exercising regularly, losing weight, being more productive, and achieving success is understanding how habits work. As Duhigg shows, by harnessing this new science, we can transform our businesses, our communities, and our lives. With a new Afterword by the author

"I really enjoyed the beginning of this book for the neuroscience portion but the final third is a bit of a stretch between habits and decisions. That being said, I know people who swear by this book, particularly people who struggle with things like smoking or weight, and this is a great read to start thinking about what your cues are. "
"I had to read this for my English class and absolutely loved it. Every page was full of new information while at the same time repeated some of the information from earlier chapters. While some people in my class thought that was annoying, I loved how the information repeated itself so I could memorize it better. "

"I love a story told through people's stories. The only quip I had was when the gambler and the sleep-walking murderer were compared for a whole chapter. In the book, it talks about how we could have empathy for the murderer but not the gambler. That is incorrect. Murder has an excuse when the motive is good enough, not when it's an accident. I couldn't care less about him being pittied because he's a "widower" (bad language choice if you want me to feel bad.) Gambling is in my family. I can understand to an extend but I can still sympathize completely. That was my only issue with the whole book, really."
"Really inspirational for me, I’ve struggling with bad habits since childhood, some I’ve said I’d stop but haven’t, and this book really opened my eyes to the key to changing my habits. Hearing about other stories and the science behind habits really kept me reading the urge to change my habits did too lol. The Power of Habit is really well written, in my opinion, and really motivational for me. Definitely 5/5 and recommending the book to anyone who tells me they struggle with a bad habit!"
