"The premise of the story was fantastic and drew me in immediately. However, the purpose was lost to me. Fair warning I am prone to hate novellas. The characters and story are usually not flushed out, and Remote Control was no exception. Nothing was explained, the book seemed to have no meaning.

Sankofa is your typical kid. She loses her home, travels, tries to find her place in things. But Sankofa started to become entitled and that really rubbed me the wrong way. She used her gift against innocent people. Demanding the best because she was owed it. For what, I'm not entirely sure. Also the secondary characters seemed meaningless too. They neither gave nor took from the story.

There was no true heading and not much sci-fi to be had either. I did love the bond between her and the fox but that was about it. Honestly in the end I had to look up an explanation because I thought I missed something."

"4.5-This was so good. Such a unique take on fantasy/sci-fi. I LOVED the main character, she was so relatable yet you were left in awe of who she was. The plot was interesting and didn't feel too predictable. The writing was fantastic, i could picture the scene and the emotion happening. The only reason this is not 5 stars is because of the pacing, it felt a bit choppy at times. Although this didn't affect the story to much for me. Overall this was an amazing read and i definitely recommend."

"Its rare I see such a different view of death as this book created. I loved it and it left me wondering and pondering about the elements that were only defined by suggestion rather than outright exposition. The main character is such an unfortunate girl with such tragedy around her but such spirit and personality, I loved following her as she made her way through the various villages, towns and cities. Will there be a second book? I kind of hope so and kind of love feeling this inspire my imagination finishing just where it does. Either way, this author is producing work that takes me new places with such beautiful imagery and I look forward to more of her work."
