National Book Award Finalist • Here is the unforgettable story of the Binewskis, a circus-geek family whose matriarch and patriarch have bred their own exhibit of human oddities—with the help of amphetamines, arsenic, and radioisotopes. One of The Atlantic’s Great American Novels of the Past 100 YearsTheir offspring include Arturo the Aquaboy, who has flippers for limbs and a megalomaniac ambition worthy of Genghis Khan . . . Iphy and Elly, the lissome Siamese twins . . . albino hunchback Oly, and the outwardly normal Chick, whose mysterious gifts make him the family’s most precious—and dangerous—asset. As the Binewskis take their act across the backwaters of the U.S., inspiring fanatical devotion and murderous revulsion; as its members conduct their own Machiavellian version of sibling rivalry, Geek Love throws its sulfurous light on our notions of the freakish and the normal, the beautiful and the ugly, the holy and the obscene. Family values will never be the same.

""They thought to use me and shame me but I win out by nature, because a true freak cannot be made. A true freak must be born."

I am not sure where to start with this review. So much is happening in Geek Love, and I loved it. Geek Love was an unsettling and unexpected joy to read, and I am so glad that I finally picked it up. I will continue to be haunted by the characters in this story, and I'm happy I got to spend some time in this weird world.

I was immediately hooked on this story, and I was so excited to see where it was going. It's dark and twisted, and it gives you a lot to think about. I could have spent more time here, and I wish there were more related books.

If you haven't read Geek Love yet, get this gem of weird fiction NOW. It's amazing & you need it in your life."
"So I went to Barnes and nobles looking for horror and crime books. The man there recommended this book to me, said once I read it it would stay with me … and got it has. He was right when he said he can’t really describe it without spoiling it for me… but it was a fun read (apparently Tim burton bought the rights to the book but never followed up wjth the movie because it was too gory) definitely recommend if you want to be transported to the carny life of horror. I love the character development"

"Wow. This book is insane. I mean I couldn't stop reading it and while I was reading it I couldn't believe I was reading it... It is so incredibly well written.
I read this book about 15 years ago and I'm not sure I finished it, honestly, I don't think I was ready for it yet. One of the best books I've ever read- in a twisty sort of way. Now that I'm a mom, the book has whole new depth with the perspective of a child and mother role. Mind blown"
