"I really loved the concept of this book! A murder twist on the classic Pride and Prejudice? Yes please. BUT, it was so slow. I read a little over half and then just skimmed through the rest. It was seriously lacking action and romance to me; Most of the investigation was just Lizzie talking to different people and she had very few significant interactions with Darcy. "
"I absolutely love the story line and the pace of this book, it did not feel rushed or too slow either. Every conversation be tween Lizzie and Darcy had me chomping at the bits for more. And I am just so happy how the storyline felt true to the characters while also making them feel like the fit into the world that was being created."
"Another P&P retelling, another chance to fall for Mr Darcy all over again.

I loved this story SO much, seeing Lizzie prevail and being empowered in different situations is always such a delight. 2021 is truly complete now that I've read this.

Now off to find a new retelling for me to get my paws on.

Edit: The one thing I missed here, though? No "I love you, most ardently." I can let it slide since everything else was amazing though."
"I was honestly just very bored. it was written nicely but the story itself was ehh. it was also very hard to believe in Elizabeth and Darcy's romance since they met like one time in the beginning and not again until so much later. all the in between was lizzie doing her crime solving. it didn't feel like a retelling but more like an au where they're lawyers.

edit: okay well this is an au where they're lawyers but it would have been a better au if it was in the modern setting. like this just really didn't feel like regency era"
