I formed emotional bonds with a fair amount of the characters and shed tears for the lost pilots. However, the main character can be downright frustrating at times but I was a bit crude as a teen as well.#scifi_and_fantasy"

As this part of a four-part series, I really appreciate the growth of the characters and the development of relationships in the story. The romantic subplot was a little more minimal than I usually prefer, definitely a slow-burner, but regardless I’m still shipping Spensa and Jorgan and can’t wait to see their relationship grow. I’m Invested!"

ems_9732 shared a tip "I’ve been having a hard time finding some really good books but Master of One by Jaida Jones & Dani Bennett was absolutely awesome. If you’re looking for a more sci-Fi (ish?) one, Zodiac by Romina Russell is also pretty good (at least from what I remember)"

Spensa tries to prove herself as a pilot while carrying the burden of a father hero, who turned traitor. I found the main character annoying. She seemed to be a spoiled brat. The story is still good."

I'm impressed with how Brandon was able to not walk back her father's failure (thankfully), instead he created a unique reason why her father went rogue.
