Has anyone loved a book so much that they just CAN’T watch the movie adaptation? I absolutely refuse to watch the movie version of One Day because I don’t want to taint the book experience.

Benjamin Lemley Not exactly the same thing but I thought the giver movie was just really bad and I never want to watch it again

Julie Zantopoulos Totally counts. It’s tough when you love a story and the adaptation isn’t what you want it to be.

Ella The 5th Wave… the book was amazing. It was the first time I’d ever read the book first and the movie came out as soon as I finished it. I was so excited… and so let down… they changed everything

Julie Zantopoulos That’s a book/movie I haven’t read but it’s why I’m hesitating to watch the Grisha show. I don’t want the books/characters ruined.

DJ The Three Musketeers. I just cannot watch a movie that I think will ruin that book for me.

Joslyn I can’t really figure out if Normal People is supposed to be a tear jerker, coming of age, or romance, but I absolutely hated the book and series lol I think in the opposite sense, I was hoping the series would have made me appreciate the book more 😂

Julie Zantopoulos Sometimes it does that. Like a bad book will translate better to film. I think Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid will do much better as a movie but I HATED the book format.

Zoe The Outsiders. everyone either says the movie was really good or really bad. but i don’t want to watch it bc i thought the book was so well written. i’ve always wanted to write a book like that and it is a great example for what i wanna do. so i feel like if i watch the movie, that’s just gonna take away the magic i had while reading the book. i just wouldn’t be the same. my role model book would change and i wouldn’t really like that.

Julie Zantopoulos I loved the book and haven’t seen the movie. Hmmm maybe that’s another that I can add to my list

Alexis I stay away from most shows that are based off of books I love. I keep having to ask people, “did you read the book first” and then “does it hold up?” before I will even give it a chance. Same with movies.

Shelly Haskell I just binged the Netflix mini series. I 😍 it! So excited that it’s a book🥰. I get to enjoy this again. I don’t usually go to a book if I’ve seen movie but I know the book will take me away. #oneday #moviebeforebook #reallove

Heather I’m kinda the opposite with the Harry Potter series. I never read the books before seeing the movies, which I adore, so now I am afraid to read the books for fear of not finding the movies as enchanting. Anyone else?
