Dexter: New Blood image

Topic: Dexter: New Blood

It may have took me a episode or two for this show to grow on me because it’s different than the old Dexter but the same in many ways. One thing I noticed quickly is it’s much more darker and plays or horror far more than its predecessor . But so far I’m actually loving this new season. Does anybody else feel the same or feel another way open for discussion.

Bud Root After 4 episodes I’ve kind of gave up on New Blood. I much prefer the original Dexter.

Lea I dunno the original Dexter was so good, I knew they could never top that, so I kinda kept that in mind & accepted it. I've been watching Dexter NB & yellowjackets (on showtime) on Sundays nights and excited for new episodes. It will never be as good as it was, but it's still good to me.

Pam Joseph Well, I’m up to date on this series and watch it as soon as it’s dropped every week. I’m definitely pulled in. …I honestly feel that if the series feels bland and/or slow at this midway stage, they’re gonna throw a curve ball relatively soon. The writers seem smarter than viewers give them credit for.

Sloan Christopher Dexter is my future ex-husband. I'll take him in any way I can get him. The show is definitely darker and yes different from the original but it's 10 years later and his kids is a teenager. Anyone who's raised teenagers should totally get why Dexter has gone darker. I really hope they decide to keep going rather than stop at just 1 season.

The dark moments I’m actually talking about is when Deb comes around. Also it’s the setting of a small town vs sunny Miami. I do hope they would continue this miniseries but they probably won’t .

Hope On the scale to 1 to 10 I give it a six only because it's really slow and I think it's going to pick up

Samantha Blizzard While there are changes, it’s still the same Dexter..to me at least. Some things are just opposite, cold setting vs hot, subconscious Deb vs Harry, two main murder storylines bouncing back and fourth Dexter’s and another major serial killer, love interest on the verge of discovering Dexter’s dark passenger, teen angst Harrison vs Astor. Don’t get me wrong, I’m enjoying it, I love Dexter and I love the new show, I just don’t find it vastly different.

Lea I think it started out slow b/c they had to show that Dexter really tried to change who he was -- he got a new life & didn't kill anyone for 11 years until "the deer incident" , so it was like a "diluted" Dexter.. plus we got so attached to the supporting cast in the original and we have to get used to all these new ppl (who I didn't like as much at first). Plus the setting for the show just might have worked better in Miami ... but once the angle with Harrison came into play, I was hooked.

Michele I am like 3 yrs late to the discussion, but I just found both series a couple weeks ago. I thought it was just dark enough. I am usually buried in a novel, of the psychological thriller variety, but since finding this I have gotten no reading done. I had to find out the resolution… BOTH endings felt pretty anti-climactic for me. That said, there was a more poetic and balanced nature to the ending in New Blood. That doesn't change the crazy feeling you get when you end up empathizing with the “bad guy” & there is some detective on a mission (think dog with bone)… I slick was hating the police chief until she pulled the cash from her own pocket—& suddenly it was like… dang… minor redemption. I had been imagining Vogel’s son before that, so I cried a little, haha!
