Jojo I didn't even know this received an anime adaptation. And I really want to watch it now.

Brandon Reed It's free to view on YouTube 🥾🦵, though I tracked down a pre-owned DVD set for surprisingly cheap at my local used book and movie store.

Jojo Thanks for looking out, man. I personally don't have much use or interest in physical media, but I see why people do and try to preserve it.

Brandon Reed I'm gonna be really honest, here, I only got ten episodes into this one. I didn't like the book Anne of Green Gables as a kid, and I thought I'd be more receptive as an adult, or that an anime form would be more palatable, but I couldn't. It was such slow viewing. I'd watch one episode and think I'd be watching for an hour. But I really think that's a matter of my taste for the narrative. Many of the elements were good. But what did you like or dislike?

Brandon Reed The scenery was obviously a strong point. The backgrounds were gorgeous, especially in Anne's fantasy sequences.

Road Master The whole story just doesn't appeal to me. It would be interesting to see a Japanese take on an American classic though. How is the art style and American story/setting combo?

Brandon Reed They work superbly together. Anne is captivated by natural beauty in the original story from what I remember. That's carried over into this adaptation, and a lot of attention is paid to nature. It's from the 70s, so the characters are allowed to look unglamorous, as many of them are described in the book.

Brandon Reed It has to be a calculated risk.
