"This installment of the Evil Dead series is closer to the 2013 version than it is to its earlier counterparts. I'm a fan either way, but the thing that made the original Evil Dead movies that Sam Raimi directed have such a cult following wasn't the gore, it was that they were full of quirky campiness. Even though Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell are executive producers for this movie, they only lightly sprinkled a touch of quirky campiness on this one and went heavy on the violence and gore. Still an enjoyable watch. They really made Alyssa Sutherland look creepy as hell. 8.5/10"

"If I knew nothing of the franchise, I’d think this was a pretty good demonic possession movie. Cool effects, interesting kills, super creepy. This one has way more in common with the 2013 movie in that it possesses none of the comedy of the rest of the series. I like comedy. But this was still pretty good. "

"Open the door like you opened your legs, you stinking groupie ****!-Deadite Ellie I don’t see how you can claim to be a horror fan and not atleast respect Lee Cronin Evil Dead Rise the 5th installment.I’m not real big on the Evil Dead lore because I’ve only seen the original film which might be a crime at this point. This installment was a violent, bloody, gory, and downright gruesome time that takes the most serious and demented approach. I personally feel this is the best horror film this year at least for now. Once this film gets going it never really stops which I can appreciate. If you are looking for a gore-fest then look no further. They say 1,500 gallons of blood was used which is just an insane amount. I really liked the story and the subtle play on motherhood. The way this demon was tormenting her kids and saying the funniest evil things that really play into the little sprinkles of dark comedy that Evil Dead is known for. The cheese grater that was sick lol. For the film to use less known actors and a fairly new director while still achieving success says a lot. After watching this I really want to go watch the other 4 installments because I can’t remember the original and I haven’t seen the rest so yeah that should be fun."
