"An incredibly well made movie. Basically an existential look of a man undergoing some serious personal and professional crises. I was really surprised at how incredibly layered the screenplay was, not to mention the Coens’ storytelling style here (on top of being hilarious too). This film wouldn’t be as effective without the performance of Michael Stuhlbarg, who really gives a masterful performance as the lead character here (special mentions to Fred Malamed and Richard Kind as well). I actually think this might be the most accomplished film directed by the Coen brothers, both in terms of the screenplay as well as the storytelling. They are at the peak of their powers here."

"I think this gets lost or overlooked a lot of times considering how many movies the Coen Brothers have created that are classics. It’s like a modern interpretation of the Book of Job. The poor guy is mostly a decent person but he’s constantly met with misfortune that makes him question what even is his purpose in life and whether it amounts to anything. Brilliant stuff. "
