Jesse Aarons trained all summer to become the fastest runner in school. So he's very upset when newcomer Leslie Burke outruns him and everyone else. Despite this and other differences including that she's rich, he's poor, she's a city girl, and he's a country boy the two become fast friends. Together they create Terabithia, a land of monsters, trolls, ogres, and giants where they rule as king and queen.

"(VAGUE SPOILERS, not specified, you can read if you want.) I don’t know why I have been holding off this movie for forever.  I’m glad I listened,  but I’m annoyed that nobody told me this was so EMOTIONAL.  First movie I cried to EVER. welcome to the real world of theatre.  this movie SOLD me, my heart, my soul, every **** that I have in my bone left. it’s all gone from this movie, nonexistent.  you are forced to believe that this is a fantasy world that everything is okay, but it’s NOT. it’s not freakin okay, this movie destroys every ounce and bit on imagination because you’re forced to get a real world mindset, suck it up, and continue one foot forward in front of another.  i hate how much this movie represents me and my friends, after school we have a spot (hunter’s post) where we explore and have fun and play tag and such, a little grafitti here and there and practically it’s our home for every fall and spring.  i hate the survivor’s guilt, the amount of joy and childhood the main character is shed upon after the ‘incident’ just DESTROYS ME, this is not okay, this is a kids movie on DISNEY- this should not be possible  the end SOLD ME, it was so sweet and the fact that he did it destroys my heart, and when he put the thing in the water KILLED ME. it’s so sweet i don’t know why i js her isbs. so  I HAVE NO WORDS. it’s just so good i’d rewatch it, but give it a year minimum to get this off of my chest, it’s sad and heartbreaking and i just feel like i’m torn apart by sadness 😭😭"
