After the Cold War, a breakaway Russian republic with nuclear warheads becomes a possible worldwide threat. U.S. submarine Capt. Frank Ramsey signs on a relatively green but highly recommended Lt. Cmdr. Ron Hunter to the USS Alabama, which may be the only ship able to stop a possible Armageddon. When Ramsay insists that the Alabama must act aggressively, Hunter, fearing they will start rather than stop a disaster, leads a potential mutiny to stop him.

"Mutiny here, mutiny there…. Mutiny, mutiny everywhere! This was an interesting frightening premise that could have realistically happened. I was on edge the entire film. This is the kind of movie that will have you pulling out your hair in stress. Denzel Washington, Gene Hackman and Viggo Mortensen all give compelling performances. Hunter was an easy protagonist to root for and the question of whether or not to fire the nuclear missiles on Russia was a nail biting one. I loved all the symbolism about the price of war and the difference between doing what you know is right and simply following orders. This is a hell of a good action film that I would 10/10 recommend."
