When Evil Lurks

"This movie is a great entry into the possession/horror genre. Very inventive and original take on demonic possession, and great use of practical effects in this Spanish speaking film. There were more than a few shocking moments in this one that made me actually say "Damn" out loud. Definitely not for the squeamish or for anyone not willing to read subtitles. But if you're a true fan of horror and can deal with reading dialogue then give this one a try, you won't be disappointed. 9/10"

"I watched this movie because of all the hype it was getting online..I don’t know why I keep falling for hype trains, not to say this movie is bad in any way it’s a pretty good film with a very interesting take on how Possession works. But I think the ending fell flat and it became a very frustrating watch with characters making dumb choices that are obvious to avoid from the rules that were told to us. Overall a strong begin with amazing special effects, acting and story but a lackluster end. But who knows you might like the whole thing! Worth the watch to find out."

"This has earned the right to be called the scariest horror film of 2023 and I definitely can get behind it. Cooling out on rotten tomatoes with a 99% critic score. This Spanish speaking film should have came with a warning label if I’m being honest lol . If you have a weak stomach than this might not be for you. It also doesn’t mind crossing lines other horror films tend to stray away from. Don’t get me wrong it’s not a shock value film like the centipede or those nonsensical over the top horror films. It’s substance in this story. I promise you’ve never seen a film about possession told in this manner. I enjoyed it just wish it was a little bit longer. Director Demian Rugna really crafted this vicious piece of work and now I’m keen to checking out his last film Terrified. So if you’re a horror fan I highly recommend at least giving this a try."

"There were some gag inducing scenes but it definitely wasn’t scary. If this is the scariest movie from the last 10 years then there is absolutely no hope for horror movies. There was also a lot of horrendously shrill screaming that went through me. Overall I found this very boring with a few gross out moments. Not worth the watch. "

"This is a great possession horror movie! My only complaint is that the ending was a little hard to understand for me, but that is very much a me problem. I thought the scares in this were good and they caught me off guard! Would I say it scared me?? Not really. But, the idea of something like this happening is scary...
