After reading 8 books last month, I fell into a really bad reading slump. Every time I tried to pick up and read a book, I would be bored out of my mind. Until this. I decided to take my time with this book even though I could’ve finished it in a day, and I’m glad I did. This book got me out of my reading slump and I LOVED it. All the twists and turns caught me by surprise every time I thought I had it figured out. 100000/10 I love this book!!!
Rock Paper Scissors
Books | Alice Feeney
5/5 ⭐️ Wow wow wow. This book kept me on my toes, I could not put it down. I was able to connect the POV’s and had my suspicions about two characters being the killer, and my prediction was correct. Regardless though, I still loved this book so much. It deserves all the stars!!!
The Overnight Guest

5/5 ⭐️ I really liked this book. The writing, the dialogue, the buildup, the characters - amazing. I did not like half of the characters aside from Coop and Jack. Everyone else annoyed the sh*t out of me tbh, but the fact that the author was able to make me feel such strong emotions toward them - albeit not good emotions - is telling of her writing, I feel. I did predict the killer correctly earlier on, but I definitely did not predict the last secret Jessica kept. So while it was predictable, it’s still a 5/5 for me!
In My Dreams I Hold a Knife

I took my time reading this book and finished it in 3 days - although I definitely could have finished it in a day bc of how much of a page turner it was. Literally had to tell myself to stop reading each time. I made a prediction in the middle of the book that was brought up towards the end, but then there was a twist. However, with all that build up, I expected a better twist. Otherwise, I enjoyed reading this book. 3.75/5⭐️
Home Before Dark

Well I must admit this was a page turner, for sure. I finished it in 5 hours. There most definitely was a twist, but I wasn’t all that surprised. I was indifferent truthfully reading the first 200 pages, but kept trudging along for the ending. Once it was revealed, I laughed at myself for not figuring it sooner since it felt so obvious. Don’t regret reading it, but it wasn’t jaw dropping. 3/5 bc I like his writing and buildup.

3.8/5 ⭐️ This was a cute read. I liked the dialogue, the writing was easy to understand and follow, and the characters were likeable. The plot, however, I felt like could have been better. I understand the main focal point was Ash and Poppy’s love, but I wished they equally focused on the love Ash had for her family and for Adara - how they felt, reacted etc. when she died and after. I wish the same was done for Poppy as well. I definitely felt like they could have expanded on that without taking away from Ash and Poppy’s love story. After all, the slogan on the cover is “After life, love continues” - so that definitely could have also applied to other people she has/had love for in her life. I know they touched on it a little bit in the “After” portion, but it almost felt like an afterthought. Otherwise though, I enjoyed this book.

This book was a trip. My first Riley Sager book, and I was not disappointed. So many twists and turns I didn’t expect. I was able to predict some parts, but then something else would happen that would trump my previous prediction. I thoroughly enjoyed this! 4/5 ⭐️
