So beautifully written. Such an emotion evoking read. Not sure what else you can expect from a book of this topic, but wow, I was blown away. A topic of WWII history (although fiction) that wasn’t covered in my schooling: the peoples in Stalin’s gulags/work camps. I found myself in heartbroken tears, but I would consider it a must read. TWs/ cruelty, SA, death, deportation

Such a phenomenal book; unlike anything I have ever read. It pulls one into such a unique, riveting fantasy that you will not want to put it down! The adult figures are flustering at times, but the resiliency of the children and their maturity is outstanding and so well written. The characters, their personal stories, and the interactions between them and those around them leave you wanting more; good thing this is simply the first in a wonderful series!

I read this is high school many, many years ago as an English requirement- one of the best assignments. I love this book more than I can figure how to put into words. The “family” of “greasers” is a particularly tight knit one that I fell in love with, almost instantaneously. The struggles this group of young men face all while maintaining the utmost support & love for each other is moving and unusual for a book of its time with male protagonists. Evokes all of the emotions. Stay gold, Ponyboy.

Read this as a teen long ago, yet it left an impact, as it is simply wonderful. Like most Sarah Dessen books, I found myself in tears at many parts. A romance in a kickass, sad kind of way. Very well written and remains one of my favorite SD reads.
