Frieren: Beyond Journey's End

"The emotional depth of this show is such that a viewer could cry enough tears to drown in it. I probably cried fourteen times in the twenty-eight episodes of Season One. The comedy is often laugh-out-loud funny, and it keeps the overall impression of the show from being melodramatic. The action scenes are relatively brief, keeping the focus on character development, but they're wonderfully choreographed and animated. My one complaint is that Fern is sometimes frustratingly childish, but she's about eighteen years old, so that's probably just appropriate characterization. Five-plus stars. Barring anything unforseen, I believe this will become a classic. "

I'm only a few episodes in and it's such a beautiful pondering on how short human life can be and what it would mean to live for thousands of years. How would these epic fantasy adventures that only last years truly feel to an elf? This adventure has tugged at my heartstrings, given me much to ponder and engrossed me into what feels like the most refreshingly unique take on a traditional fantasy setting I've seen in some time."
