While she finally has a fragile grasp on the happiness she’s worked so hard to achieve, she sometimes feels as out of control of her own life as the troubled teens who are her patients. So when a local teenage girl goes missing, and then another, that terrifying summer comes crashing back. Is she paranoid, seeing parallels from her past that aren't actually there, or for the second time in her life, is Chloe about to unmask a killer? From debut author Stacy Willingham comes a masterfully done, lyrical thriller, certain to be the launch of an amazing career. "It’s been 20 years since Chloe’s father went to prison for the murder of 6 girls in her hometown, ripping apart her life entirely. Engaged to be married and start a new chapter in her life murders are happening again. As more girls go missing to many similarities of the murders in her past come to light. Feeling obligated Chloe attempts to help solve these crimes, simultaneously discovering she cannot trust anyone. I listed to this book on audio, this book leans a little on the predictable side. Nevertheless it was a great read!"
"This was just fine. OK plot, good twist, but what is up with authors writing half of the book in flashbacks? Why can't things be written as happening in the moment, especially action-filled scenes? It made otherwise good scenes so boring. The story lowkey only started 1/3 of the way in. The beginning was just backstory on the MC's history. Also, I know this is petty, but did no one proofread this? Doing a PhD straight out of college and then "maybe going back for a master's"? Not the order that goes in like, at all. "
"This was boring but didnt make me mad, so 2⭐️. Only reason I finished it was to finish it (I don't usually abandon books). Guessed the twist pretty early on."
