From the New York Times bestselling author of Dear Edward comes an emotionally layered and engrossing family story that asks: Can love make a broken person whole?William Waters grew up in a house silenced by tragedy, where his parents could hardly bear to look at him, much less love him—so he’s relieved when his skill on the basketball court earns him a scholarship to college, far away from his childhood home. He soon meets Julia Padavano, a spirited and ambitious young woman who surprises William with her appreciation of his quiet steadiness. With Julia comes her family; she is inseparable from her three younger sisters: Sylvie, the dreamer, is happiest with her nose in a book and imagines a future different from the expected path of wife and mother; Cecelia, the family’s artist; and Emeline, who patiently takes care of all of them. Happily, the Padavanos fold Julia’s new boyfriend into their loving, chaotic household. But then darkness from William’s past surfaces, jeopardizing not only Julia’s carefully orchestrated plans for their future, but the sisters’ unshakeable loyalty to one another. The result is a catastrophic family rift that changes their lives for generations. Will the loyalty that once rooted them be strong enough to draw them back together when it matters most?Vibrating with tenderness, Hello Beautiful is a gorgeous, profoundly moving portrait of what’s possible when we choose to love someone not in spite of who they are, but because of it.

"Love permeates this book of sisters. Julia, Sylvie, Cecelia and Emeline grow from children to adults on the pages, their lives and loves intimately revealed and tangled. I fell in love with Sylvie, the second oldest of the girls: Everyone around her felt seen and authentic. Occasionally the book seemed to manipulate my emotions, but I leaned in and was swept away by the love and kindness the girls showed one another and the grief and redemption they faced. A tour de force, very intimate and redeeming."
"Wasn’t sure that I liked most of the book, just because of how slow it was. But it was a very character driven book. Really thought provoking and will stay with me for a long time. Really makes you grateful for family, and all of the things that can affect the generations to come. A really good ending that makes the rest of the book make sense. Overall, I would recommend. "
"The characters development was well done and believable"

"Hello Beautiful is an exploration of family bonds, identity, and healing—a story that beautifully unravels the complexities of love and loyalty over time. Napolitano crafts characters so vivid and real that their triumphs and heartbreaks feel like your own, making this one of the most profoundly moving novels I've ever read"
"Started on Jan 17 and finished on April 7.
This was hard to get through, but with the high ratings I held out hope. For nothing. A story about parents who leave their kids when life gets hard but the kids all turn out so wonderful that they all accept them back when the crap parents/sister decide to come back. People who up and leave for years at a time only to return when the best of them dies. A bunch of narcissists and a bunch of angels.
Mother turned her back on daughter for getting pregnant for 25 years, turned her back on another daughter for being gay, but then comes back after 25 years of NOTHING and Open Arms by Journey starts playing.
Frankly, I’m a little ****** the way it played out."

"I guess I’m an outlier. I struggled to get through this book and just didn’t find it interesting. It drug on and on and I never really saw the point until about the last couple chapters. It came together and had some interest after I was already very much pot committed. I would love to know what made so many other people love this book, because just didn’t do it for me."
