"On paper, Lily and Christian seem like the most perfect couple, but that couldn’t be further from the truth upon closer inspection. They are covering up a murder of one of their friends. The more time goes on, the more anxious and fear-ridden they get that they will be found out. Nina, the wife of Jake, the man that gets murdered, stands by expectantly awaiting any sign he is alive or even better his return. Her suspicions of foul-play only grow as time presses uncomfortably on.
The guilt weighs on Lily’s conscience, but she would rather die than give up her innocence (metaphorically speaking of course!). Christian goes to every length to protect her, but is Lily being forthright? Is she the woman she says she is? Doubt grows surrounding each new story she weaves, while Christian struggles to maintain a cool head. He has violent urges that he must resist as both his and Lily’s lives remain at risk.
This was entertaining and I loved the play-on words of the title. I really enjoy mysteries and digging deeper and deeper with each page turn and this story excelled at fueling my question-solving instincts.
