"This was a very unique story! The characters were realistic with interesting personalities that created great dialogue. The conflict of the story was confusing at times, the writing a little too experimental for me to understand clearly. However once I got deeper into the book it became easier to read! "

It's like she's written a love and a hate letter to her city and built a story around it. It's only April, but I suspect this book will be in my top 3 of 2020."

Robin Miles is already an extremely skilled narrator so paired with a production team and amazing sounds and special effects!! The City We Became is an absolute must listen to.<br/><br/>I loved everything about it.<br/><br/>NK Jemisin is so great at not only extensive and detailed world building in a sci-fi/fantasy, but also creating memorable, palpable characters that you get to know so well you feel as if you’ve always known them.<br/><br/>Just listen to it already."

"The production value of this audiobook is unmatched. The characters could have been more fleshed out. It was very well written. As a queer and trans woman from Staten Island I hated Aislyn bc I’ve had classmates like her and so I know the type. I think the idea of the living embodiment of SI being the only one who disregarded the city as a part of them. It was such a betrayal and I’m kinda resentful that it ended the way it did bc I thought she would’ve understood her place but her bigotry won over in the end. I did love the inclusion of Vanessa (JC) as an honorary 6th borough. But the production value plus the voice acting of Robin Miles in this audiobook made this book so entertaining"
