"What an interesting take on a murder mystery. For some reason, I started this book thinking it was a true story. I very quickly realized that wasn’t possible. The supernatural is not normally my thing, but it gave this story another dimension, keeping this interesting where they may have otherwise fell flat. "
"As a die hard mystery/thriller fan, I have read a lot of synopses that promise haunted estates, ghostly characters, and spooky encounters. Most of the time, I am drastically disappointed but never by a Simon St. James novel. This is my second novel by St. James and she is one of the few authors I have found that doesn’t just hint at the haunted. The ghosts and locations are always a predominant part of the story and I really appreciate that as a reader. I would say this novel specially reads similarly to a police procedural in terms of how the protagonists solve the mysteries of the story. This isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, some are probably bored by it but I love it. There were just a few things I’m left questioning like why does Nick’s backstory matter? What was the point of Heather’s character? These questions keep me from five staring this book, but not from liking it enough to give it a solid 4⭐️/5. "
"Sooooo good! Was 80% who done it and 20% paranormal. I was enthralled and the last 150 pages I absolutely could not put it down! Stayed up past my bedtime to finish. Very good! "

"This book is a dual timeline with a little paranormal and a lot of suspense. Definitely worth the read"
