Jama GlennAt first I thought I had somehow ran across another version of the Housemaid and Verity… you have the perfect couple, but some lady who works for them worms her way in, steals the man and finds out he’s a monster… while this plot is overdone, this version was good! This brought in components that made it stand separate from the rest, weaving a really interesting story. I enjoyed the way the author broke the story into three parts: Amber, Daphne, and the conclusion. This was a great way to give you a perspective of the story and see how little or how much that character actually knew. I really enjoyed it.

Jama GlennParts of this books were confusing, which I believe was intentional, but overall, I was hooked and invested in the story. I did not see the big twist/reveal coming and it shocked me. From there, things went a bit downhill. As the story unfolds things get DARK. There are some uncomfortable descriptions that are hard to read in relation to “the accident”.

Jama GlennAnother solid adventure for Lottie Parker. As the fifth book in this series, it followed the same general themes, had some very elementary feeling writing weaved throughout, but this one took a turn the series NEEDED. When you’re following a detective series where a character you’re invested in always ends up in trouble, realistically they can’t survive every time. A loss we needed to experience for the good of this series.

Jama GlennHooked, I was plain hooked. There’s little I can say about how this book was written because I don’t want it to lead to spoiling the experience, just know it was good. Everything fell into place just as my brain made the connection, sentences before the big reveal. Loved it.

Jama GlennWhile it was a little slow to get started, what a great story. It truly has it all. I absolutely love the character development. How can you not root for this abandoned little marsh girl?! I really enjoyed the small details woven into the story that connected it to its time in history with race and gender. The love story was beautiful and pure. Loved this one. I do have to add, the world hyped the ending of this book up so much, I was expecting something really spectacular. For me, the ending fell flat due to the hype.

Jama GlennThis one was interesting. I enjoyed how the author utilized the different parts to shift the timeline of the story, providing a group of chapters taking place during the same time instead of a bunch of smaller jumps back and forth. Overall, the story was good and kept my attention. I figured out two of the bigger reveals early on, but this didn’t take from my interest in the storyline.

Jama GlennStory was moving along well, I was invested… and then about 20% in, you get a random chapter that seems totally out of place. The information provided in the chapter then becomes a large part of the character’s identity. I feel it could have been introduced in a manner that connected better to the story. I did feel parts of this were a little slow and boring, but the 2nd half picked up and ended with an unexpected reveal.

Jama GlennA book that ended too soon. Very good. I really enjoyed this. The characters were built well, the flashbacks acted as memories that were placed in the perfect locations. This one had my attention from beginning to end.
