"10/10 🌟 Couldn’t stop! Completely trapped me into the mystery/crime story! Everything was tied together perfectly with plot twists which completed the story! The ending was a little vague but you kind of get the perfect ending! The writing techniques and the way the author uses the characters stories to complete everything reminds me a lot of #verity by #colleenhoover as we get the diary of Alicia and the side of the psychotherapist and his daily life. It was interesting and I was immediately hooked on it! Highly recommend!!!! #psychological_thriller #shocking_twists #suspense #mystery #thrillers "
"Ugh I was so excited to finally read this book but it fell short for me. I think it is still a good novel- but there were so many side plots and unresolved moments, especially with Alicia's relationship to John Felix, her step-mother, and her brother in law. It seems as if these plots were put there for the sole purpose of trying to throw the reader off of the ending twist. Also, we never really understood why Theo stayed with his cheating wife all this time, only left to intuit that he was fixated on Alicia more than his problems with her, maybe as an outlet or something. But why?? There was a weird blurb of self-analysis at the end which seemed unwarranted/should have been hinted at earlier, especially since the entire story seemed to be told in retrospect. "
"I finally got around to reading the ’phycological’ thriller and although it left me with a few questions, the twist was unexpected and truly made the book. Starts a little slow but is definitely worth the read as it keeps you on the edge of your seat. I am interested to see what Michaelides’ other novels are like since this was his first."
