"An Extreme Horror Novel - yeah, I'd say so. I did like how all of the stories flowed naturally into one another and worked as a whole in the end. But damn... There is such a thing as going extreme in a manner that does nothing but beat the reader over the head. This does that... time and time again. I can kinda see that being Ralston's point, but with it being as predictable as it was I feel there should've been a bit more substance to warrant such over-the-top, graphic detail. If extreme horror books with outrageously graphic violence and sexual acts are your thing, though, this will be right up your alley. "
"This book, man. Whoa
This book was so f****. Just completely f*****g deranged. In a good way. If you're the sort of person that thinks gory, violent, s*xually explicit horror is good.
The protagonist is a deeply scarred (literally and figuratively) man who hires an escort to come with him to the motel that is the site of the worst of his trauma. He tells her a series of increasingly shocking stories and, without getting into any spoilers, sh** gets very personal.
Ralston's writing is vivid, striking, and at times surprisingly tender. I suspect this book will be f***ing with my head for a long time to come."
