Under the Shadow

"2.5/5*s or 5/10*s Pros: Good acting, good story, decent effects. The story takes place in the '80s during the Iraq/Iran war. It was very interesting seeing how the war affected people in Iran. And also to learn a little bit about their culture. Cons: It was a very slow movie until about the last 15-20 minutes. (Then it got a bit scary, which is a pro.) Not a lot is told about the Djinn and its lore. As I said before, it was a good storyline but the ending left a lot to be desired. I'm not really sure what it means. We never get a decent look at whatever the thing/s was/were. Would like to know what the young boy had to do with anything other than telling Dorsa about Djinn. Why was he away from home, down the street? What did he see when his parents died? Lots unexplained. It was worth watching but the cons brought it down a lot for me. I'm splitting the stars right down the middle. "

"One of the most underrated horror movies. Dark Persian horror taking place during wartime. Mix of psychological and supernatural horror, with a little bit of dark humor. Creepy, atmospheric film with great acting. Absolutely worth the subtitles!!"
