"An incredibly well made film, on top of being a surprisingly entertaining mob movie. The visual aesthetics made my jaw completely drop to the floor. The cinematographer (Vittorio Storaro), the production designer (Richard Sylbert), as well as the costume designer (Milena Canonero) and the makeup artists (John Caglione Jr. and Doug Drexler among others) all really go above and beyond here. I honestly love how comic book-like the entire visual aesthetics are for this film. Great cast performances too (Al Pacino MVP (such insane bad luck he had to compete against Joe Pesci in GOODFELLAS at the Oscars that year), with Warren Beatty and Madonna also standing out (Madonna was perfectly cast as the femme fatale)). Slick editing, a fantastic score by Danny Elfman, and not to mention the staging of the sequences are all top notch. This is without question the greatest Oscar win EVER in the production design category IMO. Even if the screenplay department needed some polishing, this is easily one of the most visually stunning movies I have ever seen, and I highly recommend it on that basis alone. I honestly wish more comic book movies went as hard as this did in terms of staging sequences and visuals."
