"It is inevitable that this movie would be compared to the original. That being said, it's not a complete failure. There's good and bad. They couldn't match the chemistry of Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton, but visually they out did the original in my opinion. The aerial shots and the wide open landscapes are impressive and the visuals of the destructive force of tornadoes are epically terrifying. Overall, it's an enjoyable watch and a decent popcorn movie. 7.5/10"
"Had a harder time than usual suspending disbelief in this nonsensical but fun and exciting movie. I’m probably more resentful than I should be because the original was one of my defining movie theatre experiences. And this isn’t close. But I’ve loved Daisy Edgar-Jones since Normal People and the rest of the cast is cool. Nothing that’s going to stick with you but it’s not a bad way to kill a couple hours. "
"Such a blast! Lee Isaac Chung’s familiarity and personal connection to Tornado Alley is felt throughout the film. Glen Powell’s character and his gang offer the second most accurate depiction of YouTuber/streaming culture I’ve seen in a movie behind We’re All Going to the World’s Fair. Thank god we’re finally getting directors that understand what these online communities are like and can capture them in a way that is somewhat accurate.
Some dialogue felt stiff and unnatural and I think a bit more could’ve been done with the sound design to capture the magnitude of the twisters, but aside from that, this movie was great. It’s been a while since we’ve got a new disaster movie that lives up to the pure joy I had while watching Moonfall. "
"I had to see this at the drive in theater because if you have seen the first one the orginal one you can understand why. This movie was totally giving what it need to give especially if you are a fan of the first one and instead of being a remake it had its own unique story it just missing more of the romance tension element but still didn't stop me from finding glen Powell as absolutely irresistible "
