"N.K. Jemisin is such a talented writer, I seem to love everything of hers that I pick up. Lots of high level thinking to this plot, many stories to track, and it’s all just straight up riveting and the prose to back in up is beautiful. This is easily a top fantasy book for me and I’m looking forward to continuing the series."

"NK Jemisin is officially my favorite author and I never thought I'd ever be able to say that definitively about any author. I first read the Broken Kingdoms (the second book in this series) because I didn't realize it was a trilogy. When I finished it though and discovered in the back of the book that there was more I couldn't have been more excited. I CONSUMED these books. The Inheritance Trilogy (which this is the last book of) is truly my favorite book series- really only rivaled by NK Jemisin's other series! Such vivid world creation. I love the way that every character is so real; so lovable yet so flawed. Could not recommend more highly!<3<3<3"

"I love N.K. Jemison’s writing style, her world building, and her characters. Her MCs are portrayed as strong, intelligent, stubborn, and independent. They don’t meet the “beauty” standards of the world they are in, and so far in this series and in the Broken Earth series are described as dark-skinned women. I loved the Broken Earth series book one more than the Inheritance book 1, but really they should be two different genres. Broken Earth has so many sci-fi elements along with fantasy while Inheritance has more fantasy elements. Still a 5 star read, can’t wait to start book 2."
"The author's use of language will keep you thinking and rereading. Most of the characters are developed wonderfully. The only thing that was hard to grasp was the main character. She wasn't developed as well as she could have been. Her mannerisms and decisions were confused. I kept thinking while reading, maybe there is more to her, maybe she will grow into the strong lead that she was set up to be, but I was disappointed. It was as if there was a disconnect of the character from beginning and end. I would recommend this book because it is thrilling and exciting to read. It also sets up the rest of the series beautifully."
