"I’m halfway through this book. In addition to the hiking journey Sam writes about his youth. I like how he breaks up the journey with reflection on his past. The book was published only a couple years ago. I hope he has many years to go. Back to reading every one. "

"Not sure why I picked up Sam's book. Maybe it's because of the casual pose that caught my eye or maybe I just felt like it in that particular moment. I'm not a friend of biographies of any sort. They tend to more or less bore me, so when I got my hands on this book I didn't know what to expect. Let me also preface this by stating I never know what to expect on any books I read. I pick based on genre or by the cover. Not afraid to admit that it's true. I judge books by their covers. All that aside, Sam's reflection is engaging. Who doesn't have some childhood angst that shapes who we are today. I found myself with my own reflection as I read his. Not in comparison. But in the way that acknowledges that yes, I too need to move on and get on with it. As he continued his hiking journey I found myself silently cheering for him. I know I couldn't do it. The rain alone would've made me quit not 30 minutes into the walk. Then sleeping in a tent in the rain ... wet. No freaking way. So kudos for not giving up at the start of the journey nor halfway through when everything just hurt. It's a good read. Not too long to make you miserable, long enough to relate to another human being that happens to be very popular right now ;)"
