"This was really disappointing.

Grey is one of my favorite characters in the “Cursebreakers” series and he was one of the main characters in this one.

Most of the disappointment for me was my annoyance at Lia Mara. I found her to be pushy and hypocritical at times. She’s just the stereotypical YA Fantasy girl but with more annoying twists. Argh. She grated on my nerves

Throughout the book I kept thinking that she would be so much better just as a friend to Grey and everyone than anything else. Their relationship just was awkward and didn’t match up to Grey’s established personality.

The writing seem sloppily done for Kemmerer. Her other books are more eloquent and thought out but this one just felt like a rush job. Sometimes there were descriptions, other times there weren’t any. I don’t even know how some of the characters look.

I could barely tell what fairytale this one was. It was Rapunzel. It seemed like Grimm’s original one in some parts and Tangled in others.

My favorite parts of the book were the parts where Lia Mara wasn’t included but especially the ending. It is killer.

Drudged through this. Hope I’ll find something better soon!"
"This was an okay book but a really bad sequel. Every returning character, except Noah, had a wild unexplained 180 personality shift. Kemmerer is a talented author and not following the beats of a retelling made for a much more original story. That being said I still found it pretty predictable once it got going. And again, the entire book made the last one pointless. The bonds that were formed didnt matter the moment this book started, and every character (except Noah) might as well have been the exact same person with their inferiority complexes mixed with I'm-in-the-right mentalities. The book would have been much more interesting if it had been in Grey and Rhen's perspectives, instead of Lia Mara (who I found delightful in Grey's POV but unbearable in her own) and Grey. As is, by the time we got to the twist ending, I found it unbelievable. We never saw the character development that would have made an ending like that believable. Honestly I don't if this book or the last was a waste of my time, when reading them in the trilogy."
"Just a fun book to read!"

"2.5 ⭐️s
I was decently disappointed. If you loved rhen and Harper then you probably won’t like this one as this is basically only in the perspective of Gray and a new princess introduced named Lia Mara. I struggled to like her and found myself rolling my eyes too often. She was always complaining and I just couldn’t connect with her. I listened to this as an audio book and it felt like I was listening to a little girl!
I love the world, but the characters and plot didn’t do it for me. Literally nothing happened…. We met a new creature and that was about it.
I probably wouldn’t read it again, but I would recommend it for younger readers that want to try cleaner fantasy and ease into fantasy."
"Okay book imo. Felt like most of the book was setting up for something big but that meant a boring read for me. I really wanted more of a romance heavy story but this book just lacked in that department. At the very end it finally became a page turner but because so much of it was a snooze I’d have to give it a 3/5"
